Yesterday, during our final dress rehearsal for The Daughter of the Regiment, I stepped off a platform into thin air and landed hard on my left knee on the platform below. Opera is a dangerous sport, people! My thick skirts padded my fall and nothing was truly injured but my dignity. But I woke up this morning feeling a bit stiff and my shoulders and back have been very tense all day. Undoubtedly when I fell everything clenched up tighter than a miser's fist when the collection plate comes by. Since tomorrow night is opening, I decided to take it easy, and aside from some much- needed stretching, did not work out today.
Later in the rehearsal, one of the apprentice lads hurriedly exiting the stage in the dark reached out to lean against what he thought was the wall, but actually was my right boob. I got groped by a boy half my age, albeit accidentally, so the evening wasn't a total loss. ;)
There's a little publicity video put together by the opera company, and in it you can see a little bit of me at the dress rehearsal. Check it out:
And here are a couple of pics:
The above is the grand finale, as seen through the lens of photographer Steve Scoggan.
With my colleagues Javier Abreu as Tonio and Matthew Lau as Sulpice, getting ready for Act I!
And now, it's time for a soak in the tub and beauty rest. Opera is not only a dangerous sport, it's pretty athletic. So tomorrow I'll probably stick to yoga and a walk, and save the big energy for singing.
And please --- it's really not necessary to tell me to break a leg. Seems like I already tried, and once per production is quite enough, thank you!
Thank you, Fran ... I am due for a spa day, I think!
Violet, thank you also. I guess I am lucky in the skin department; it's always been pretty good. My grandmother was always very adamant that I take good care of it, and she had gorgeous skin until the day she died! (I didn't get it from her as I am adopted, but I did get good skin care habits from her). :)

Cindy, great idea to post this video! It's lovely and you are very lucky with your job. I'd love to see it, but unfortunately I live in Europe...
By the way, your copmplexion is beautiful. Was it llike that before the weightloss?
